These are darling and perfect! They looked great on my table at Christmas this year and had so many compliments on them. The base is a heavy glass that is well constructed. These don't come filled but in the end what it costs for the stuff to fill is a better price in the end game and it is better that you can refill them instead of buying a set that is only the first filled. These have a heavy duty lid that screws to the base. There is a protective cover that protects the grinder top. I think that is one of the best features it keeps stuff from splattering into the top and makes me feel secure that germs and all of that stays out of the grinder. I received this product in exchange for my honest review.
